Ole Photo SIG Shows
In the fall of 2019, Our leader, Chuck Iliff, proposed that the Photo SIG have it's own photography show. Several members of the group pitched in and made it happen. It was a success and plans have been made to make this an annual event of the SIG.
This event is a "People's Choice" competition. All Ole Photo SIG members are the judges. Once all submissions are received, they are posted on this website, then the SIG members all vote for their favorite images in each category. The show is selected by taking the images from each category with the most member votes. Another round of votes is taken after the show is hung to select first, second, and third places in each category.

The 2023 has been hung at Jitters Coffee House (Eagle River, AK) and will be there for the whole month of December 2023.

For this show, it was decided to have only four categories. After the 2019 show, it was observed that there was no qualify difference between the "inexperienced" and "experienced" divisions, so in this show, there are no divisions. See the rules for details.

2019 Ole Photo SIG Competition
The exhibit was hung in Jitter's Coffee House in Eagle River, AK, during the months of December 2019
and January 2020
“WEATHER & SKY” was sponsored by the Ole’! Photography SIG. The show was initiated and run by SIG members passionate about photography and with many skill levels from beginner to more advanced. Inspired by the beauty, wonder and powerful forces of nature, our members captured moments in time to convey visual stories about weather, sunsets, sunrises, the Aurora and the Milky Way. This webpage shows the images selected for the show which was hung at Jitter’s in Eagle River, Alaska during December 2019 and January 2020.
The goal of this show was to provide a venue for our members to display their work, with emphasis on helping our less experienced photographers to gain competition experience. As there is a wide range of experience within the group, there are two divisions in the show: ‘Experienced’ and ‘Inexperienced’. The ‘Experienced’ have all won awards in other juried shows. ‘The Inexperienced’ have not.
There are five categories within the show:
There are 10-12 images shown in each category, with half coming from the Inexperienced and half from the Experienced division. The 53 images were chosen for the show by member votes from the 227 images entered.
